Via two of the best blogs out there (the inevitable Atrios and the superb, multi author blog Crooked Timber) comes this - well, indescribable piece of hypocrisy. Roberta Combs, interviewed in the NY Times, in the course of bitching about The Osbournes, says, first - "Shows like that wouldn't exist if mothers stayed home with their kids and supervised what they watched. " Then, when the interviewer asks if Mrs. Combs would have been happy as a full time housewife, she replies, rather sensibly actually:
"Probably not. Probably it would not have been enough for me.
I always had a desire to make a difference."
Spot the contradiction, pals!
Crooked Timber adds a nice link to Ladies Against Women, which frankly shows that satire is never more than half a step ahead of realty, especially when the president of the Christian coalition of America is involved...
