So the Family Time Flexibility Act, designed to '"allow" non-exempt workers "choose" between overtime pay or comp time has been delayed. This is a beautifully vile explanation for this delay from Congressman John Boehner of Ohio:

"Because of the campaign of lies waged by the leaders of organizations like the AFL-CIO, private sector working mothers and fathers continue to be denied the right to choose paid time off with their families instead of overtime pay - a right that has been enjoyed and cherished by federal workers and other government employees for years," said Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, chairman of the Education and Workforce Committee. "We fully expect that we'll have another opportunity to pass this measure during the 108th Congress."

Labor's objections are straightforward enough - companies are hesitant about paying time and a half, which helps guarantee the 40 hour work week; this law would allow them to make workers work longer hours and collect the "time off" at some vague future point. And of course, it's easy to see how companies will give overtime to people willing to take comp time instead of cash. There are provisions against that, but how are they enforced, especially in non-union work places?

This is an easy one. All the makings of villainy - the misuse of the word "family", the yelping about the "lies" of the unions... You can smell more than one rat.
