"It just so happens that homosexual activist groups around the country got a hold of the poll -- it was forwarded to them -- and they decided to have a little fun, and turn their organizations around the country (onto) the poll to try to cause it to represent something other than what we wanted it to. And so far, they succeeded with that."
Thus Buddy Smith, their spokesperson. It's probably not really necessary to add this - the poll is showing 60% of the respondents supporting gay marriage, another almost 8% supporting civil unions...
You have to love groups like this AFA. They wanted to poll their supporters, who oppose gay marriages - then take the results to congress (and the press I imagine, and a thousand talk shows) saying, "the public opposes gay marriages! by an overwhelming margin!" Instead - inevitably - the poll got out to the public, and the public voted. Of couse they say, "homosexual activists" voted, and hey - so they undoubtedly did. But surely, if the poll had meaning when it was circulated to anti-gay marriage activists, it must have meaning now, right?
There's no reason, I know, to get worked up about the dishonesty of most activist groups, but still - when they are this blatant about it - well... Naked lying exposed is always amusing...
